The Mass Torts Vendor Association (MTVA) focuses on setting vendor standards for “Best Practices” within the mass tort legal community based on ethical ideals and practices that will elevate the quality of client services and ultimately earn the trust of trial lawyers. On Tuesday, October 12, 2021, MTVA members gathered together at the Las Vegas Bellagio Hotel prior to the Mass Torts Made Perfect seminar with the goal of creating solutions for the legal industry.
The MTVA Mass Torts Topics Sessions featured two discussions: “Litigation Reality Check” and “Dangerous Trends and Ethical Issues on the Horizon,” both moderated by Randy Nordstrom, President of the MTVA. As the group of approximately 40 individuals talked about real-world solutions and alarming trends, each discussion fostered a growing awareness of each members’ role in the greater legal community.
During “Litigation Reality Check,” panelists including Stephen “Buck” Daniel of Dalimonte Rueb Stolle, Hunter Linville of Linville Law Group, and Andy Childers of Childers Schlueter & Smith discussed the distinct reality gap between the cost of cases marketed to the public and the reality of actual cases that should be filed in various multidistrict litigations (MDLs). In true MTVA nature, the collaborative group’s dialog progressed to offering real-world solutions to better align the case cost understanding between the client acquisition vendor community and litigating attorneys filing the cases.
After fresh, collaborative approaches for better solutions were thoughtfully discussed, the “Dangerous Trends and Ethical Issues on the Horizon’‘ panelists began by shifting the group’s focus to lead generation, case organization, and the trend of selling cases. Panelists Tighe Wilhelmy of Velawcity, Adam Warren of The Sentinel Group, and Ed Lake of Persist Group shed light on new trends currently confronting the legal industry related to client acquisitions. The panelists specifically addressed the capability of the vendor community to set unbiased standards to use in the collective effort to ethically assist attorneys in growing the vast client base.
Following the meeting, members and their attorney clients enjoyed a lively night of exclusive networking during the MTVA networking cocktail reception. More than 60 individuals connected with other distinguished members and their attorney clients. Discussions were had, solutions were made, and friendships were grown. Members of the Mass Torts Vendor Association will meet next during the Trial Lawyers Summit, presented by The National Trial Lawyers. This unique gathering of America’s most outstanding civil plaintiff and criminal defense lawyers will be held at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach in Miami Beach, Florida from January 30 to February 2, 2022.
